* M.L. Elrick (Twitter @elrick/Facebook ML ELRICK/Instagram ml_elrick), Shawn Windsor (Twitter @ShawnWindsor) and Marc Fellhauer (Twitter @MarcFell) come together virtually for their first-ever work-from-home show.* THE STRAIGHT DOPE:  St. Patrick’s Day is a week behind us, but ML is SO proud of the limericks he wrote for last week’s show — but forgot to read — that he offers a little doggerel to start this week’s show.* Marc does roll call, asking the boys from whence they’re broadcasting.* While ML dashes off to grab a power cord, Marc and Shawn take over. Find out how the mice play when the cat’s away.* Shawn claims not to be a fancy boy, but nevertheless knows what a “sconce light” is. Listen and learn.* Marc asks what it’s like to hit the streets as a reporter when no one is supposed to be on the streets.* ML discusses the social media storm created by what he thought was an innocuous Tweet about the Hallmark card woman he ran into at CVS.* Shawn tips his cap to the new heroes of the coronavirus crisis: the folks who keep the shelves stocked and the folks who wield a mop. ML launches into a paean to his fellow shelf stockers and Marc adds power line workers and truckers to the list of oft-overlooked and critically-important people. Can we get an “Amen!”* Marc urges Congress to act with an economic stimulus package. Shawn and ML aren’t as eager, triggering yet another ingenious ML analogy (says ML, who writes these show notes).* THE GREAT DEBATE: The experts say “STAY AWAY!” from other people for as long as you can to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. But a certain influential American has begun to question whether that advise is in America’s best interests. Our three stable geniuses weigh in.* GEEK OF THE WEEK: The lieutenant governor of Texas says he — and a whole lotta other grandparents — are willing to risk their lives to get the U.S. economy cranking again. As people who love their grandparents — and plenty of other codgers — we sound a note of caution.* ROOM 7609:  Crowded House is not exactly what the doctor ordered in this age of social distancing. But these NuWave wonders from down under have an oft-overlooked track that ML believes may contain some messages worth considering as we contemplate what comes next. Plus, it’s got a great opening bass line!* HARD OUT:Please be sure to let our sponsors know you heard them on the podcast! We are pretty picky about who we do businesses with, so it’s important we keep the support of business we believe will do right by you. And since we can’t go on without continued sponsor support, please let our trusted partners know you appreciate them. They really do keep track of referrals from loyal listeners like you! * If you’re looking to sell your home or buy a better crib, we humbly recommend Lindsey Broadwell of Broadwell Homes, who you can find at BroadwellHomes.com or 248-767-7767. Make sure Lindsey knows you where you heard about her and that you’ve got SOUL. * If you need a mortgage or want to refinance your new digs or save on high-interest debt, contact Hall Financial at https://davidhallmortgage.com or 248-308-5000 and let them know ML told you to call! * When it’s time to kick back with a tasty hometown classic brew, reach for an Altes!
