Prayer: What Pride Is Blocking, Part One
Foundational Scripture: Psalm 10:4–5 (NLT)Pride does more than make us think too highly of ourselves—it blocks our ability to learn, grow, and receive instruction from God. God lovingly teaches and disciplines His children, but we must remain humble and open enough to receive what He is showing us. As success, recognition, awards, and accomplishments increase, it becomes easy to believe that we are the experts and no longer need guidance. We may even begin taking credit for what God helped us accomplish.Psalm 10 warns that the wicked become too proud to seek God, yet they may still appear to succeed. This reminds us that success alone is not proof of God’s approval or blessing. Sometimes the greater blessing is found in the struggle because struggle keeps us humble, teaches us valuable lessons, and produces lasting growth.Let us examine our hearts and recognize where pride may be preventing us from learning. If pride is blocking our ability to receive instruction, we may also be blocking what God is trying to teach us. Stay humble, remain teachable, and never forget who deserves the glory
