Originally viewed as more of a side project for OneSideZero vocalist/guitarist Jasan Radford, Centershift has now developed into more of a band in its own right.
After the success of singles “9” and “My Own World”, Centershift recently released the hauntingly important track “And So…”, a tale of domestic violence and other negative emotions and addictions that became prevalent during the stages of COVID and lockdown.
It is a harrowing journey made all the more impactful by the presence of Tallulah Swasey as guest vocalist, but also one which demands attention due to the challenging nature of its lyrics alone.
All three songs are taken from Centershift’s new EP ‘A Different Shade’, and, as Radford tells HEAVY, the band is only just getting warmed up.
"We wrote it... during COVID we wrote a lot of these songs for the record and for the EP,” he said. “The full length is coming out later this year, and so it's kind of a message as to the awareness of domestic violence and things that maybe... addiction, and a lot of things that people went through during COVID. Whether it be alcohol dependency, or drug addiction, or things that lead to violence or domestic violence - self sabotage and things like that - so it's kind of an awareness of it and that there is a possibility of change afterwards. "And So...", there's a light at the end of the tunnel."
In the full interview, Jasan talks more about the strength of ‘And So…’, using Swasey as guest vocalist and what impact she had on the song, the important of awareness around issues such as domestic violence, the new EP and what to expect from it, upcoming releases and when they will be out, what things he gets from both bands and more.
