This week we interviewed Peter Rodriguez, a member of the Southwest Center's Board and Vice Chairman at the Joshua Tree Feeding Program, which provides food bank services to HIV-positive individuals in Phoenix. Peter tells us about how he became involved in the HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ communities in New York after his diagnosis with GRID (gay-related immunodeficiency, an early term for AIDS) in 1982 at the age of 17. Peter shares his experience as a long-term survivor who has advocated tirelessly for HIV-positive individuals and the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to his work at Joshua Tree and the Southwest Center, Peter volunteers his time each year to organize the annual Phoenix AIDS Candlelight Vigil.
