Johnn Mack shares five good news stories: Amy and her 10-year-old son Lorenzo in the Bahamas tossed a message in a bottle with contact details, and a year later a teacher in Portugal found it and connected with them. A missing page from a medieval manuscript preserving Archimedes’ work, including propositions from “On the Sphere and the Cylinder,” was rediscovered at a French museum, with plans for advanced imaging to reveal more text. Oxford researchers found European hedgehogs hear up to 85,000 Hz and are exploring ultrasonic warning emitters for cars and equipment to reduce road deaths. In Tennessee, a woman’s Ring video of elderly DoorDash driver Richard led to a viral GoFundMe nearing $940,000 so he can retire. Finally, callers can dial 867-5309 with area code 272 to reach the Cancer Support Community hotline, an idea backed by singer Tommy Heath.
