Mort is the first Death book, the first book we read that lots of people consider their favorite, and another “should be your first Discworld" book” recommendation. It is about Mort, who becomes Death’s apprentice—but it is actually about getting a husband for your middle-agedchild daughter. Or about the inevitability of history and fate, which is sometimes greater and sometimes smaller than Death. Is it about marriage, relationships, or romance? Or is it actually a decades-long plan to give Lhuzie an excuse to rant about the capitalist metarealism of abstract or metaphysical aspects crammed into corporate structures?

Come with us into an exploration of a book that tries to be so many things.

And turns out? Our Woke King Terry Pratchett *IS* just the same type of communist as you are, listener.

Every month Anemone (xe/xem), Lhuzie (she/her) and Quinn (they/them) ask, "Was Terry Pratchett the same type of communist I am?". Every month a new book, every month wondering about its footprint in the culture and literature, how it holds up today, and just how many elephants it can hold on its back.
