Aired: Sep 29th, 1947. Newlyweds Claudia and David Naughton return from their wedding trip with nowhere of their own to live, heading to Mrs. Brown's apartment to stay with Claudia's mother. After fumbling outside with a tricky front door key, the couple is welcomed into the small flat. While unpacking in Claudia's childhood bedroom, they realize space is tight as David—an architect—needs room for his drafting table, books, and belongings. In the kitchen, Mrs. Brown prepares a roast chicken and baked potatoes before abruptly announcing that she is moving out to live with Claudia's Aunt Louise so the young couple can have the apartment to themselves. Claudia discovers her mother has secretly transformed her own bedroom into a private study for David, fully equipped with his leather chair and drafting table. Horrified at the thought of displacing her mother, Claudia tries to talk her out of going, but Mrs. Brown slips away—only to return moments later after finding that one of the newlyweds left the house key stuck in the front lock. Seizing the opportunity, Claudia cancels the plans with Aunt Louise, and the couple playfully herds Mrs. Brown back into her kitchen to save dinner. Transcript:
