Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá fuar gheimhridh a bhí ann agus bhí neart fuinnimh ag an gcailín óg darb ainm Saoirse.
En: It was a cold winter's day, and the young girl named Saoirse was full of energy.

Ga: Bhí sí díreach tar éis taisteal go Caisleán na Blarnan leis an smaoineamh go mbeadh an lá seo mar lá speisialta ina saol.
En: She had just traveled to Blarney Castle with the thought that this day would be a special one in her life.

Ga: Bhreathnaigh sí suas go hard ag an gcloch mhór - Cloch na Blarnan - agus shonaigh a súile le dúil.
En: She gazed up at the huge stone - the Blarney Stone - and her eyes sparkled with anticipation.

Ga: Bhí sí cinnte go mbeadh ádh dearg uirthi má phógfadh sí an chloch seo.
En: She was sure that she would have good luck if she kissed this stone.

Ga: Le taobh Saoirse, sheas a deartháir, Finnegan, agus a deirfiúr, Roisín.
En: Beside Saoirse stood her brother, Finnegan, and her sister, Roisín.

Ga: Bhí siad ar bís freisin ach imníoch faoi Saoirse agus a cuid pleananna dána.
En: They were also excited but worried about Saoirse and her daring plans.

Ga: D'oscail Roisín a mála agus thóg sí amach scairf teolaí dhearg.
En: Roisín opened her bag and took out a red woolen scarf.

Ga: "Más gá duit é, beidh sé anseo," a dúirt sí le hamhrasach.
En: "If you need it, it will be here," she said doubtfully.

Ga: Ritheadh nóiméad, agus chuaigh Saoirse i dtreo an chloiche.
En: In no time, Saoirse headed towards the stone.

Ga: Lean Roisín agus Finnegan í le lámha ar a mbeola le teann teannais.
En: Roisín and Finnegan followed her with bated breath.

Ga: Shiúil Saoirse ar ais, chas leis an dá súil dúnta, agus chuir sí a beola le cloch ná Blarnan go mall.
En: Saoirse walked back, turned with her eyes closed, and gently placed her lips to the Blarney Stone.

Ga: Go tobann!
En: Suddenly!

Ga: Bhraith Saoirse nach bhféadfadh sí a beola a bhogadh.
En: Saoirse felt that she couldn't move her lips.

Ga: Bhí siad greamaithe don chloch!
En: They were stuck to the stone!

Ga: Cé go ndearna Roisín agus Finnegan iarracht gan gáire, thosaigh imní ag fás iontu.
En: Although Roisín and Finnegan tried not to laugh, worry started to grow inside them.

Ga: D'iarr Saoirse ar a deartháir agus a deirfiúr cabhrú léi.
En: Saoirse asked her brother and sister for help.

Ga: Tháinig Finnegan ar dtús agus rinne sé iarracht tarraingt uirthi go réidh, ach níor oibrigh sin.
En: Finnegan came first and tried to pull her gently, but that didn't work.

Ga: Roisín ansin, agus an scairf dhearg fós ina lámha, fuair sí smaoineamh cliste.
En: Then Roisín, with the red scarf still in her hands, had a clever idea.

Ga: Chuir sí an scairf ar nós comhbhrúite te timpeall liopaí Saoirse, ag súil go mbeadh sé mar mhaolú ar an bhfuacht agus go scaoilfeadh sé a beola.
En: She wrapped the scarf around Saoirse's lips, hoping it would thaw the cold and release her lips.

Ga: Go mall agus go cúramach, tar éis tamaill de chomhbhrú te, d'éirigh leis an dtriúr acu Saoirse a shaoradh, a beola dearg ach slán sábháilte.
En: Slowly and carefully, after a while of gentle rubbing, the three of them managed to free Saoirse, her lips red but safe.

Ga: Le croí eascairdiúil agus aoibh gháire leathan ar a haghaidh, ghabh Saoirse buíochas lena deartháir agus a deirfiúr as a gcuid cúraim agus cliste.
En: With a relieved heart and a wide smile on her face, Saoirse thanked her brother and sister for their care and clever thinking.

Ga: D'aontaigh an triúr acu nár cheart aon ní a thógáil ró-dáiríre, fiú seanfhaisean an áidh.
En: The three of them agreed not to take things too seriously, not even superstitions.

Ga: Agus d'fhoghlaim Saoirse, d'ainneoin a heachtra aisteach sin, léacht luachmhar faoi ghreim an chreidimh agus an t-ádh, agus go mbeadh siad i gcónaí níos sona nuair a bhíonn siad le chéile ag tabhairt cúnamh dá chéile.
En: And Saoirse learned, despite that strange event, a valuable lesson about the grip of faith and luck, and that they would always be happier when they were together helping each other.

Ga: Agus, in ainneoin nach bhfuair sí deis fíor aitheantais a thabhairt don chloch álainn, d'aithin Saoirse nach raibh sí de dhíth uirthi - bhí an t-ádh is fearr ar domhan aici cheana féin: grá a teaghlaigh.
En: And, despite not getting a true recognition for the beautiful stone, Saoirse recognized that she didn't need it - she already had the best luck in the world: her family's love.
