Story Transcript:

Sv: Astrid tittade ut genom sitt köksfönster.
En: Astrid looked out through her kitchen window.

Sv: Stockholm, hennes älskade hemstad, pulserade av liv.
En: Stockholm, her beloved hometown, pulsed with life.

En: But today she wasn't out enjoying it.

En: No, today she sat in her small apartment with all the parts to a Billy bookcase scattered across the living room.

Sv: Astrid gillade möbler från IKEA.
En: Astrid liked furniture from IKEA.

Sv: Billigt, elegant, svenskt.

En: But the instructions, she had always had problems with them.

Sv: Och nu hade hon tappat bort dem.
En: And now she had misplaced them.

En: After all, a bookcase was just a bookcase, thought Astrid.

Sv: Hur svårt kunde det vara?
En: How hard could it be?

Sv: Hon började leta bland alla delarna.
En: She began searching among all the parts.

Sv: Hon samlade skruvar, brädor, och hyllplan.
En: She gathered screws, boards, and shelves.

Sv: Strax efter började Astrid sätta ihop delarna.
En: Shortly after, Astrid began assembling the parts.

Sv: Men något var fel.
En: But something was wrong.

Sv: Bokhyllan blev skev.
En: The bookcase was crooked.

En: The shelves were too high on one side.

Sv: Och skruvarna tog slut för tidigt.
En: And the screws ran out too soon.

Sv: Hon stod tillbaka och tittade.
En: She stepped back and looked.

Sv: Nej, det var ju alldeles snett.
En: No, it was completely crooked.

Sv: Astrid suckade djupt.
En: Astrid sighed deeply.

Sv: Var var nu de där instruktionerna?
En: Where were those instructions now?

Sv: Hon letade i hela lägenheten.
En: She searched the whole apartment.

En: Under the rug, in the cupboards, even in the fridge!

Sv: Men ingenstans kunde hon hitta dem.
En: But nowhere could she find them.

En: Then she thought of something.

En: She smiled as she turned on her computer.

Sv: Internet, det borde ju ha svaret.
En: The internet, it should have the answer.

Sv: Hon gick till IKEAs hemsida.
En: She went to IKEA's website.

Sv: Där fann hon instruktionerna till Billy-bokhyllan.
En: There she found the instructions for the Billy bookcase.

Sv: Hon skrattade.
En: She laughed.

En: Why didn't she think of that earlier?

Sv: Så började Astrid om.
En: So Astrid started over.

Sv: Hon tog isär den skeva bokhyllan.
En: She dismantled the crooked bookcase.

Sv: Följde instruktionerna på skärmen.
En: Followed the instructions on the screen.

Sv: Och snart hade hon en perfekt bokhylla.
En: And soon she had a perfect bookcase.

En: Straight, stable, and just as it should be.

En: Satisfied and happy, Astrid sat down.

Sv: Hon tittade på sin nya bokhylla.
En: She looked at her new bookcase.

Sv: Lena hemmet, Stockholm utanför hennes fönster, IKEA-bokhyllan i vardagsrummet.
En: Cozy home, Stockholm outside her window, the IKEA bookcase in the living room.

En: Sometimes things don't go as planned, thought Astrid.

En: But with a little help, a little patience, everything will eventually work out.

En: And there ends our story about Astrid from Stockholm.

Sv: En kvinna, en stad, en IKEA-bokhylla.
En: A woman, a city, an IKEA bookcase.

En: And a reminder that when things get tough, don't give up.

En: Just look in the right place for help.
