Fall is in the air, and that means it is almost time for the kids to go back to school! With that in mind, this episode is all about the high school based flicks of Gen X.
From Fast Times to Clueless, so many great movies have been set against the backdrop of high school. All of the angst, snark, naiveté, and optimism of youth are all competing inside of the teenage mind. And let’s be honest, high school is ultimately where some people peak, and others have yet to find themselves. It is fertile ground for comedy, drama, and romance - all the ingredients for some fantastic filmmaking.
This isn’t just the nostalgia talking, either - these movies not only hold up over the decades, but also still speak to younger generations just as powerfully as they did when we were that age. Some masterful stuff by some genuinely gifted filmmakers.
