“We have to get rid of that belief that we are too much, and that we have to know that we are enough, and have the audacity to believe that we are enough to enter any space just as we are. And then once we go there, we spell our stuff out and sit back and wait for it to get picked up.” - Khadijah Abdul-Mateen

Welcome to Stay a While with Tommi Vincent! As Black women, we hold so much emotion in our bodies, our minds, our habits that we often never have time to explore. Well, this episode is all about examining our lives and the lives of those who came before. It’s about understanding who they were, getting to the roots of who we are, embracing the beautiful and healing the trauma. Sisters Khadijah and Zakiyyah Abdul-Mateen are pouring out an abundance of the wisdom they’ve gained over their years as intergenerational healers and it is worth every second. Join us and fill up a seat at the table for the first part of our conversation!

Khadijah and Zakiyyah Abdul-Mateen are identical twin sisters, who are licensed mental health specialists, mind and body practitioners, and intergenerational healers. They have both received their masters in clinical social work and have advanced education certifications in somatic trauma, EMDR, trauma-informed yoga, play therapy, somatic social justice, meditation, trauma-informed care, and herbal wellness. Through Unearth and Bloom, they offer a holistic approach to addressing traumatic memory and are committed to the blooming journey of black women and girls.

Khadijah and Zakiyyah understand that unearthing and blooming is a continuous process, which is why they are able to work with individuals no matter where they are in their transformative journey.

Key Quotes
“We have to get rid of that belief that we are too much, and that we have to know that we are enough, and have the audacity to believe that we are enough to enter any space just as we are. And then once we go there, we spell our stuff out and sit back and wait for it to get picked up.”

“It's time for you to start moving forward. And you know, working your way from the moment in the past that had you bound and had you tied up and caused you to lose sight of who you are and being able to embrace 100% of everything about who you are and how you've been created.”
