What if the scientist who unleashed a monster on the future met the original? We continue Universal Monsters Abroad, a month of films featuring the classic monsters that weren't made by Universal, with Roger Corman's Frankenstein Unbound, an adaptation that tries to do something different, to varying degrees of success. John Hurt stars as a scientist accidentally sent back in time to meet Victor Frankenstein, played by Raul Julia, and must stop the mad doctor and his creation before it's too late. Mary Shelley, played by Bridget Fonda, is there too, in a meta take on the classic story that sounds more interesting than it actually is.
Filmmaker Spencer Parsons and Scary Stories We Tell's Jess Byard join the Kulturecast to talk Frankenstein stories, Raul Julia, Roger Corman, and so much more.
