When we're in the throes of our disease, our actions can have a lasting negative impact on the people around us. Usually the damage happens to those who love us most. While we are consumed by self-centeredness, family units often become cracked and broken. The tragedy befalls not only ourselves but everyone in our wake.

On this episode we are joined by a special guest from up North. Ryan Phillips, Athlete and Global Influencer, occupies the third seat from the comfort of his home in Canada. Ryan is an inspirational figure with an interesting path that includes doing time for smuggling weed over the border. After conquering his own demons, he's gotten to a place where he is able to bring awareness to causes such as mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and child sex trafficking.

Recently, Ryan has found himself on the other end of addiction as he becomes witness to his daughter's progression into the world of substance abuse. We talk with him about what its like to be the father of an addict knowing full well what he himself put his own family through when in the throws of his own disease. Our Warstory this week comes from Raphael is sure to move you. Raphael's story of being the parent of an addict is what inspired today's topic. He shares on his daughter's progression into the drug scene, witnessing her lash out after experiencing trauma, descend into violent episodes, and even shoot up heroin in order to scathe off withdrawals.
