Fr: Paris, la ville de l'amour et de la lumière, était pour Pierre la destination de ses rêves depuis qu'il était enfant.
En: Paris, the city of love and light, was for Pierre the destination of his dreams since he was a child.

Fr: Lorsqu'il a finalement réussi à économiser suffisamment d'argent, il a pris l'avion pour Paris.
En: When he finally managed to save enough money, he flew to Paris.

Fr: Il était tellement excité de voir la Tour Eiffel de près et de goûter la cuisine française.
En: He was so excited to see the Eiffel Tower up close and taste French cuisine.

Fr: Il avait entendu parler de l'excellente cuisine française et des plats raffinés qu'on y trouve.
En: He had heard of the excellent French cuisine and the refined dishes found there.

Fr: Le jour suivant, il se dirigea dans un restaurant français de renom.

Fr: Le serveur s'approcha pour prendre sa commande et il se tourna vers lui en souriant.
En: The server approached to take his order and he turned to him smiling.

Fr: "Je vais prendre le plat le plus raffiné que vous ayez", déclara-t-il avec assurance.
En: "I'll take the finest dish you have," he said confidently.

Fr: Le serveur prit note de sa commande et retourna à la cuisine.
En: The server took note of his order and returned to the kitchen.

Fr: Quelques minutes plus tard, son plat arriva.
En: A few minutes later, his meal arrived.

Fr: Pierre était très heureux, puis remarqua que le plat était garni de quelque chose de mystérieux.
En: Pierre was very happy, then noticed that the dish was garnished with something mysterious.

Fr: Il ignorait ce que c'était, mais il se disait que c'était sûrement un ingrédient délicat et rare utilisé par les chefs français.
En: He didn't know what it was, but he figured it must be a delicate and rare ingredient used by French chefs.

Fr: Il prit une fourchette et goûta le plat.
En: He picked up a fork and tasted the dish.

Fr: Sa bouche fut emplie d'un goût étrange et salé.
En: His mouth was filled with a strange, salty taste.

Fr: Ce n'était pas ce qu'il avait imaginé.
En: It was not what he had imagined.

Fr: Puis, il réalisa que la "délicatesse" dans son plat était en fait des escargots.
En: Then, he realized that the "delicacy" in his dish was actually snails.

Fr: Pierre était horrifié.
En: Peter was horrified.

Fr: Il ne pouvait pas croire qu'il avait commandé quelque chose d'aussi dégoûtant.

Fr: Il se sentait vraiment mal à l'aise en mangeant les escargots et avait l'impression que tout le monde dans le restaurant pouvait le regarder.
En: He felt really uncomfortable eating the snails and felt like everyone in the restaurant could watch him.

Fr: Il essaya de remédier à la situation en expliquant au serveur qu'il avait commandé accidentellement les mauvais plats, mais il se rendit rapidement compte que ses efforts étaient inutiles.
En: He tried to remedy the situation by explaining to the waiter that he had accidentally ordered the wrong dishes, but he quickly realized that his efforts were wasted.

Fr: Bien qu'il détestait chacune des bouchées qu'il avalait, il se sentait soulagé que ce fût terminé.
En: Although he hated every bite he swallowed, he felt relieved that it was over.

Fr: Après cette expérience, Pierre apprit à être plus prudent lorsqu'il passait commande.
En: After this experience, Pierre learned to be more careful when ordering.

Fr: Il apprit également à être plus tolérant envers les autres et à ne pas juger les plats que les autres personnes appréciaient.
En: He also learned to be more tolerant of others and not to judge dishes that other people liked.

Fr: Quand il repensa à cette expérience des années plus tard, il sourit en se rappelant qu'il avait finalement compris qu'il n'y avait rien de mal à sortir de sa zone de confort et à essayer de nouvelles choses.
En: When he thought back to that experience years later, he smiled as he remembered that he had finally realized there was nothing wrong with stepping out of his comfort zone and trying new things.
