Pharmacists are all about medications, right? When I was in pharmacy school I thought it was so cool to tell people I was a “legal drug dealer.” The average number of medications a person is taking at the end of life is FOURTEEN. That is ridiculous.

In this week’s episode of the Wholly a Woman podcast, Dr. Veronica Riera-Gilley hosts a discussion with myself, Dr. Emily, the natural family planning pharmacist, and Dr. Jenna Clack, generative medicine pharmacist. We talk all about celebrating your body’s natural functioning and what it really means to be a feminist and to have freedom.

Here are the take-aways:
-Age healthily by avoiding synthetic hormones early
-Women have been tricked into believing that birth control = freedom and feminism
-What about celebrating a woman’s ability to create new life?
-Is getting pregnant truly the worst possible consequence?
-Natural family planning methods are supported by science and research
-Who are we trying to outsmart when we try to outsmart our bodies?
-Are you making a choice when you’re told you HAVE to take birth control, without discussing non-medication options?
-Scientifically, there are only SIX days each cycle you can get pregnant
-Anti-aging is healthy hormone production
-It is completely appropriate to talk about our bodies and teach our children to use anatomically correct language
-Talking with your partner about your body and your cycle can improve your connection, communication, and respect
-You DESERVE to know about your body and you are smart enough to know your own body
