🎙️ EP47｜Why Are Some People “Sheep” in the Bible—While Others Become “Beasts”? The Bible talks about people— yet strangely, it keeps using animals. Sheep. Oxen. Horses. Dogs. Pigs. Lions. Bears. Leopards. Serpents. Dragons. Even Jesus is called— the Lamb. Why? What if these animals are not merely animals, but images used to describe different spiritual conditions? Scripture warns that human beings, despite their honor, can become like beasts when they lack understanding. That raises an uncomfortable question: Is being human enough—or does Scripture define a true person by something deeper? There also seems to be a striking contrast. On one side: sheep, oxen, and horses. On the other: lions, bears, leopards, serpents, and the dragon. And some who once appeared to belong to God are compared to a dog returning to its vomit or a washed pig returning to the mud. Why such extreme imagery? At the same time, Scripture presents another set of images: the Lamb, ** the white horse,** ** and the rider on the white horse.** When these symbols are placed together, the Bible’s animal imagery begins to look less random. It may be describing knowledge and ignorance, ** faithfulness and betrayal,** ** destruction and salvation.** And the final battle is not fought with human violence. Its weapon is— the Word of God.
