Welcome to Wellthy Living conversations, episode 42.

Social connection and cohesion are critically important to good health, longevity and quality of life. Yet, during the last few months, we have been living in unusual times of isolation and social distancing.
What’s the impact and how do we prepare and transition for a new story, in the COVID -19 Era - What does this mean for individuals, communities and as a society and what role can we play?

In this episode, I chat about this with Gilbert Rochecouste, an inspiring man who for over 26 years has led the movement enhancing social cohesion by (re)connecting people to places.

Gilbert is recognised locally and internationally as a leading voice in Placemaking and the creation of vibrant, resilient and loved places. He is a sought after speaker and skilled
facilitator for community and stakeholder engagement activities and has worked with over 1000 cities, towns, main streets and communities.

These unusual times have given people the opportunity to reflect on the ways we have lived our life and the impact our choices have had on us as humans but also on the planet.

So before we discussed a way forward, Gilbert shares some of his biggest observations and reflections over the last couple of months.

When then went on to talk about writing a new story, discussing:

- A regenerative lifestyle - put back more than we take out.

-Going hyper-local - understanding communities, neighbours, shops, etc

- Lifestyle changes - home-based offices, empty buildings and new innovative building development projects

- Common physical places - how to reclaim and reconnect

and more.
