Skeletal remains discovered on a Washington shore in 2006 have finally been identified as Edwin Asher, a former mayor of Fossil, Oregon, who disappeared two decades ago. Asher went missing during a crabbing trip on Tillamook Bay, after which the Coast Guard located his abandoned watercraft but found no trace of him. Investigators initially categorized the recovered bones as an unnamed John Doe due to a lack of identifying markers. Recently, law enforcement partnered with Othram, a specialized laboratory, to reexamine the historical mystery using modern genetic testing and familial DNA mapping. This breakthrough finally brought closure to the long-standing cold case, connecting the two-decade-old coastal discovery to the missing politician.
