Fr: Le soleil brillait haut dans le ciel de Paris alors que Pierre, Jeanne et François se rencontraient dans un petit café.
En: The sun shone high in the Paris sky as Pierre, Jeanne and François met in a small cafe.

Fr: Ils cherchaient à aiguiser leur connaissance des fromages français, chacun certain de posséder une expertise supérieure.
En: They were looking to sharpen their knowledge of French cheeses, each certain of possessing superior expertise.

Fr: "Je suis sûr que je sais plus de choses sur les fromages français que vous deux réunis", déclara Pierre avec confiance.
En: "I'm sure I know more about French cheeses than you two put together," Pierre said confidently.

Fr: "Vraiment?
En: "Really?

Fr: Je parie que je pourrais vous enseigner quelques choses", riposta Jeanne.
En: I bet I could teach you a few things," Jeanne shot back.

Fr: Le ton montait entre eux alors qu'ils se disputaient, chacun déterminé à prouver sa suprématie.
En: The tone rose between them as they argued, each determined to prove their supremacy.

Fr: François, qui avait écouté leur querelle grandir, décida d'intervenir.
En: François, who had listened to their quarrel grow, decided to intervene.

Fr: "Attendez, j'ai une blague pour vous!"
