As Greenwood became more prosperous, white Tulsa became more resentful. By 1921, Black Wall Street was flourishing; over 10,000 Black residents called the area home. But the persistent presence of lynching culture hung over the thriving, bustling district. Note: This episode features descriptions of racial violence.
