20 years ago, the College Station based HealthPoint non profit medical clinics obtained federal status to serve the uninsured, under-insured, and those living in rural areas.
That has resulted in Senator John Cornyn announcing a $1.4 million dollar federal grant.
HealthPoint CEO Eric Todd says this will go in part towards the additional cost of personal protective equipment at its 14 clinics in nine counties.
Last week was the second week HealthPoint was converting to video conferencing between 45 medical providers and a staff of 220 with 47,000 patients.
Todd says co-pays on telemedicine visits have been waived for the next 30 days.
