Authors Note:
As we stand at the edge of remarkable scientific progress, this story explores the captivating potential of these upcoming technologies. 'Avant Terra' is my attempt to envision the profound impact they might have on our existence, pushing the boundaries of our imagination and reality itself with a "what if" perspective

Preface:
“In the era of Avant Terra, the dichotomy between organic life and cybernetic existence defines our society. Birth and life, in their most primal and organic forms, remain the sacred domain of the ‘flesh kind’ — humans in their unaltered state. These organic humans, living in enclaves shielded from the stark realities of advanced technology, experience life with all its natural ebbs and flows. They give birth, nurture their young, and embrace the full spectrum of human emotions and vulnerabilities.

As time marches on, the inevitable degradation of the body occurs — be it through age, illness, or accident. It is at this juncture that our society faces a profound divergence. Those who undergo a transformation, where their organic composition is significantly replaced by cybernetics, cross a threshold. Beyond this point, if the balance tips heavily towards the mechanical, they are relocated to the robotic colonies, a world vastly different from the organic enclaves.

This separation is not just physical but deeply emotional. For the flesh kind, the sight of a being once wholly human, now transformed into a predominantly cybernetic entity, evokes a discomfort too intense to bear. It reminds them of a future they all inevitably face, yet choose not to confront until the moment arrives. This segregation, though seemingly harsh, is a collective unspoken agreement, a societal coping mechanism to maintain the sanctity and purity of organic life as long as possible.

In this world, I stand as an anomaly — the first human to reach the longest lifespan ever lived. My longevity is proof of the miraculous marvels of cybernetic enhancements. However, it also marks me as the harbinger of a future where all those younger will eventually surpass my lifespan once I am gone. This window into my story is an invitation to explore a world where humanity grapples with the profound implications of its own creation and evolution, constantly balancing on the fine line between organic origins and a cybernetic destiny.”

Do you think extreme longevity could lead to a unique form of loneliness or isolation? How might society adapt to accommodate individuals who have lived for centuries?

If given the choice, would you choose to extend your life through technological means? Why or why not?
