Autumn Fires is a short poem that follows bonfire smoke as it trails across gardens and up the vale. The speaker watches red flames blaze and gray smoke tower while the last summer flowers fade. Rather than mourning the end of summer, the verses turn to a cheerful song of the seasons. Each one brings something bright, from summer blooms to the glow of the fall fires. Its simple rhymes make it easy to read aloud.
