On July 20th. 2012, James Holmes opened fire on a crowded movie theater at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. Twelve people were killed and 70 others were injured, 58 of them from gunfire. It was the deadliest shooting in Colorado since Columbine. At the time, the 82 killed or injured was the largest number of victims in one shooting in U.S. history.
