Apple Podcasts has given me something I don’t always get from podcasting—a sign that someone is listening.
Most of my podcasts sit on Apple Podcasts without showing a ranking, so I was surprised and happy to discover that one of my shows had ranked. I didn’t even know it was being found there.
That ranking means a lot because, as a podcaster, I don’t always know what my audience is thinking. But when a podcast is distributed and begins appearing in podcast directories, there is evidence that someone is finding it, listening and paying attention.
I also see Apple Podcasts as a core part of the podcast medium. Being listed there can help a podcast reach listeners beyond Apple, including smaller or independent podcast apps that use established podcast directories and feeds to discover shows.
For me, the ranking was more than a number. It was a reminder that the work is reaching someone.
So, thank you to everyone who has listened to any of my podcasts. I may not always know who you are or what you’re thinking, but knowing that you’re listening means a lot to me.
I’m Gail Nobles. Thank you for listening to Podcast News & Opinion.
