Authorities recently resolved a three-decade-old cold case in Alaska after a Michigan resident provided multiple anonymous confessions regarding a 1993 homicide. The suspect, Christopher Popps, is accused of killing his former colleague, Patrick Dearth, following a dispute at an automotive business. After receiving the tips in early 2025, investigators located human remains hidden inside a barrel along a remote highway embankment. Forensic analysis confirmed the identity of the victim, leading to a murder indictment against the tipster. Popps was subsequently apprehended in Michigan and is currently awaiting extradition to face charges in Alaska. This breakthrough brings a definitive end to a disappearance that had remained a mystery for over thirty years.
