The DeFeo Family murders remain one of the most infamous crimes in American history—not just for their brutality, but for what followed.
This episode unpacks the chilling events that took place on that November night in 1974, when Ronald “Butch” DeFeo Jr. took the lives of his entire family as they slept.
These murders would later become the dark foundation of the Amityville haunting legend, but what really happened inside that house on Ocean Avenue?
The facts of the crime are disturbing enough, but the aftermath is just as haunting. From shifting alibis to bizarre claims of demonic influence, this episode digs into the tangled web of lies and contradictions spun by Butch DeFeo in his desperate attempts to escape responsibility.
It’s a story of violence, deception, and the lingering question: was there something more sinister at play, or was it all just a human monster in the dark?
