This episode details the resolution of a cold case involving the 2018 murders of a veteran couple, Serafin and Deana Lorenzo, who were ambushed during a fraudulent gun sale in Florida. The perpetrators, two former U.S. soldiers with histories as international mercenaries, orchestrated the robbery to fund their travel to a foreign conflict. Although the investigation stalled for years, it was eventually revitalized through pioneering digital forensics and a critical error involving a swapped SIM card. By linking a burner phone to a personal device and utilizing advanced location-tracking data, authorities were able to trace the killers across state and international lines. Both men were ultimately extradited, convicted, and sentenced to multiple life terms in federal prison. This account emphasizes how modern technological footprints can dismantle even the most calculated criminal plots to provide long-awaited justice.
