Mark Simone recounts the tragic collapse of the Friars Club, a legendary New York institution that once served as a sanctuary for show business icons like Frank Sinatra and Johnny Carson. After more than a century of prestige, the club fell into disarray due to mismanagement and criminal activity, leading to federal raids, indictments, and the eventual loss of its historic clubhouse. The dialogue highlights a mysterious memorabilia auction in California, where items ranging from Milton Berle’s pool table to Jack Benny’s violin are being sold off under uncertain legal authority.
