Johnny Mac covers comedy news including Netflix Is a Joke Festival’s closing-night “Roast of Kevin Hart,” hosted by Shane Gillis, airing live on Netflix May 10 from the Kia Forum in LA, and speculates on likely roasters. He recounts a story in which Hart intervened in a brewing Logan Paul–Rob Gronkowski feud that stemmed from comments by Tom Brady. The composer-performer of The Lion King’s “Circle of Life” chant, Lebo M, sues Zimbabwe comedian Learnmore Jonasi for $27 million over a viral podcast joke he says distorts the chant’s meaning and has led to harassment and fears about his Disney relationship. Mac notes barbs traded between Elon Musk and Jon Stewart, plugs Pete Holmes’ YouTube special “Silly, Silly Fun Boy,” reviews delayed Peacock availability and early reactions to SNL UK, and mentions Germany’s “Neo Social Club” and Shelly Belly’s debut special “Don’t You Judge Me.”
