Today’s episode is Marisa’s reflection on a popular Instagram post that states: “Drinking Kombucha for probiotics is like drinking soda for hydration”

This post’s caption claimed that a certain keto and fasting expert regularly experiences a 40+ point-rise in his blood glucose levels over 2 hours that follow drinking a bottle of kombucha (with various types of kombucha, even low sugar) and many other people have this problem too.

Marisa was alarmed because she thought the entire post was an exaggeration. That’s why Marisa tested herself, and she’s ready to share the conclusion with you.

Take Home Message:
Figure out if kombucha feels good to you. Seek out brands that are not filtered and have sediment or SCOBY/mother left on the bottom of the bottle. Try your own blood glucose monitor if you’re concerned. Kombucha labels can have high sugar listed now, but really the sugar is much lower after fermentation. Don’t believe everything you read on social media or media in general. Do your research.
