The world watched in shock as Damar Hamlin, a safety for the Buffalo Bills, collapsed on the field during a Monday night football game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 2, 2023. If parents and pediatricians weren’t already nervous about pre-sport physicals and sudden cardiac death, that scene certainly reinforced everyone’s worst fears. But could screening of any kind have prevented that incident?
