Prince Rogers Nelson was a musical phenomenon who constantly reinvented himself throughout his long and colorful career, changing his style and even his name to keep his artistic output fresh and funky. Eccentric and flamboyant with an impressive vocal range, Prince influenced many other musicians with his trademark mix of funk, rock and R&B.

In addition to his remarkable musical output, Prince helped other performers on their path to stardom, writing songs for a variety of artists and even directing (and starring in) his own movies. He produced over thirty-five albums, including ten that went platinum in a career that spanned five decades, with a hundred million records sold worldwide. Fans around the world mourned his untimely death in 2016.

With a foreword by Susan Rogers, Prince's sound engineer throughout the 1980s, Prince: A Portrait of the Artist in Memories and Memorabilia is a tribute to the man and his music, told through photographs, ephemera, and music journalist Paul Sexton's narrative. It's full of vivid, affectionate, eye-witness stories from the writer's original interviews with the friends and collaborators who knew the real Prince.

We see shots of custom-built guitars and beautifully crafted clothing alongside memorabilia such as posters, concert tickets, and personal letters written by the artist. Anecdotes abound of what Prince was really like to work and indeed to live with, his insatiable work ethic, and his mischievous sense of humor. What emerges is the story of a truly unique, and unequivocally talented, individual.

Prince's musical legacy is enduring; many posthumous releases continue to emerge from the famous vault he kept in Paisley Park, his home and studio outside of Minneapolis. Meanwhile, this book serves as a window into his life, his times, and the instinctively glamorous world that he created.
