Prof. Maciej Münnich opens the second panel on epidemics in the Bible and Talmud, during which our invited scholars refer to the epidemics in light of the coronavirus. In his lecture, prof. Münnich focuses on the biblical context of the pandemic.

Prof. Münnich explains where illnesses came from and what they were for ancient civilizations. From his podcast one can find the answers to why religion was inseparable part of medicine and what the significance of spirituality was with regard to making a diagnosis.

Maciej Münnich is associate professor at the Institute of History at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. His research interests focus on ancient history of the Middle East; he uses contemporary archeology in biblical studies, conducts research on Jewish beliefs on afterlife and biblical demonology. Since 2009 he is a chief editor of an academic journal „Scripta Biblica et Orientalia”. In his podcast he tells how the Bible explains the origin of epidemic and contrasts contemporary and ancient approach to the subject of disease.
