On this episode of the DBR Podcast, we get into a few NBA topics before discussing Brendan Marks's and Seth Davis's article at The Athletic this week about the process Duke took to promote Jon Scheyer to head coach of the men's basketball team. Quick disclaimer: we recorded this episode on Wednesday 6/23, so our analysis may be stale, if hopefully not outdated. First, we dive into combine measurements, where Duke guys ran the gamut from long (DJ Steward) to large (Matthew Hurt). If you want to know why your Duke-centric optimisim about Duke players in the draft is not reflected in mock drafts, you may find evidence in the results herein. After the break, we discuss The Athletic's behind-the-scenes look at Jon Scheyer's promotion, including the surprising revelation that it was a weeks-long process that had most fans and media completely in the dark.
