Texas A&M 's faculty senate heard from student leaders this week about what has been done in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Departing student body president Mikey Jaillet of Round Rock and incoming president and current student senate speaker Eric Mendoza of Clear Lake thanked faculty members for their effort in starting online classes in eight days and for their support of giving pass/fail grades.

Both offered observations about what's ahead during the upcoming summer and fall semesters.

Jaillet says any sort of socio-economic issues faced by students are going to be exacerbated.

Mendoza said it was important for students to maintain Aggie core values while they are away from the College Station campus.

Jaillet and Mendoza also responded to faculty senate questions about what has worked well, their recommendations to improve education experiences, and what else can the A&M community do better during this time.
