In a grand stroke of irony: this book is a monster! I gave this book the coveted sixth star, it is excellent!

G. Edward Griffin takes us back in time to when and why the federal reserve was created. He treats it as a mystery providing sufficient clues and detail for us to solve it together. He establishes the context by explaining that in the early 1900's the country was rich and growing richer. The government, its citizens and corporations were loaning to themselves and banks were unable to sell their only product: debt. Thus seven men who together represented one quarter of the wealth (of the entire world) set out to solve their dilemma and save and grow their fortune. They traveled to Jekyll Island and devised a scheme designed to enrich themselves and impoverish the country to ensure their only product would sell like hotcakes. And they cast the government as the patsy who would enforce their cartel members to play fairly with each other while together they devoured their competition. Together they conceived their monster in the dark and several months later a creature emerged: The Creature from Jekyll Island!

If you haven’t heard my podcast entitled the Myth of a World Without Conspiracy, I suggest you check it out now. I created it as a primer for this study because this is so important.
