College Station police is investigating the possible connection of zipties being attached to vehicles as a technique by those involved in human trafficking to kidnap distracted drivers and passengers.
Officer Tristan Lopez says that follows a social media post from someone whose car had zipties attached to the front grille outside the mall earlier this month.
Lopez says this is also an example of how holiday shoppers could be distracted while bringing their purchases out to their vehicles.
A CSPD tweet about the zipties has more than 300 likes and has been re-tweeted more than 200 times.
