For the eighth consecutive year, Blinn's legal assistant program and the legal assistant student organization will be hosting the Texas 10th district court of appeals.
Robert Stanberry, who is the coordinator of Blinn's legal assistant and criminal justice programs, says the general public is invited to watch the arguments in two criminal and one civil case inside the Blinn-Bryan campus student center.
Wednesday morning at ten, there is an appeal of as conviction on possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.
That's followed at 11 by an appeal on a motion to suppress narcotics that were recovered during a traffic violation stop.
Wednesday afternoon at one, the appeals court will hear arguments in a civil case labeled Texas A&M University v. John Doe. The appeal comes from a student who was expelled from the university on allegations of sexual misconduct. The student claims his due process rights were violated because he was not allowed to have his attorney cross-examine witnesses.
