Brewer also announced the chamber ambassador of the year was Katerina Hall of Baylor Scott & White hospital.
As previously announced, Citizen of the year Randy French and volunteer of the year Debbie Holliday were recognized.
The banquet speaker, Texas A&M system chancellor John Sharp, reviewed what has happened the last eight years and looked ahead to future projects and goals.
The list includes adding an eighth state agency...emergency management...along with a law school, outsourcing at the flagship and other campuses, the growth in research money that is approaching $1 billion dollars, the new A&M campus at McAllen, the RELLIS campus, and public-private partnerships that include future groundbreaking of a 61 story multiple use structure in Houston.
