On this week's group chat, we discuss parental teasing; talk about winter gear on our Friday speed round; shout out some stuff we like on the Roundabout Roundup, hear an interview with occupational therapist Meghan Corridan, and do some shameless self-promotion. Here's your road map to the episode: 07:27 Teasing Tension — When one loving parent thinks that gentle teasing is the best way to help a child get used to the way others may joke around, and the other loving parent knows that even gentle teasing is unappreciated by said child and should be cut out immediately, you wind up with escalating tension, and who needs another source of that this time of year?  19:18 Speed Round: Where Do You Stow Your Winter Gear? — Maybe you're decorating your home with trees and ornaments and wreaths right now, or maybe you're just decorating it with jackets and scarves and gloves and hats and boots. Since none of us has a glorious HGTV-touted mud room, we talk about where that stuff gets kept, or flung.  26:42 Parenting Roundabout Roundup — Terri enjoys the procrastinator-friendly sales at Calendars.com; Nicole also has an online store to recommend, The Grommet;  and Catherine's a little more high-minded, with an article on Common Sense Media on helping kids spot fake news.  30:36 Interview of the Week — Pediatric occupational therapist Meghan Corridan talks to Catherine about her annual holiday gift guide, featuring dozens of suggestions for toys, games, and activities. This week, she focuses on products that are new in 2016. Come back next week for more highlights from the gift guide. (Also mentioned: Meghan's last chat with us, about coloring and activity books for two.) 43:20 Shameless Self-Promotion — Terri shared a few articles from her new Friendship Circle gig: "20 Things Every Parent of a Child with Special Needs Can Be Thankful For," "Find the Perfect Toys with These Special-Needs Gift Guides," and "15 Special-Needs Toys and Tools That Make Great Gifts"; Nicole also has a Friendship Circle article, on the difference between inclusive and self-contained classrooms;  and Catherine has an article on VeryWell, on the best kids' toys for active play.
