The Texas Transportation Commission could decide before the end of this month whether to approve local leaders request to establish a county-wide transportation organization.
That follows Tuesday's public hearing on the proposed Brazos County regional mobility authority.
TxDOT Bryan district engineer Lance Simmons says public comments can be submitted through May 17.
Then all the public input will be forwarded to the transportation commission.
If approved, the RMA's first project is a tunnel moving traffic under University through the Northgate district.
State legislation to add $10 dollars to vehicle registration fees for the RMA is now in the Senate after passing the House last week on a 99 to 43 vote.
