For the first time this spring, the Brazos County sheriff's office responds to a 9-1-1 call of a vehicle stuck in high water.

Chief Deputy Jim Stewart says a College Station man who owns land in Grimes County was returning home on Democrat Road, when just after driving over the Navasota River bridge his large pickup got stuck.

With the truck surrounded by two to four feet of water, Stewart says Bryan firefighters had equipment to get the man out.

After the driver was checked by medics at the scene, he was taken home by another deputy.

Stewart says BFD also brought two rescue boats, and the response also included volunteer firefighters, precinct two constable Donald Lampo and a DPS trooper.
