Construction could start this summer on rebuilding Arrington Road south of William D. Fitch.

That's after Brazos County commissioners gave permission at their last meeting to solicit construction bids and name the committee that will evaluate the proposals.

County judge Duane Peters says the weather will control the timetable after a contract is awarded in about two months.

Peters says the new two lane asphalt road with shoulders will take care of a reduced traffic load on Arrington that followed last year's opening of the Mesa Verde extension.

Peters says the county's design, incorporating drainage ditches and other things, did not leave enough right of way to add a center turning lane.
