Dr. Nakia Simmons Cotton is a native of Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. Nakia attended Florida A&M University. While at FAMU, she cultivated her love of education. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. Dr. Nakia graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a Doctorate in Education.
Dr. Nakia S. Cotton resides in the Metro Atlanta area in Georgia with her two sons Kaylon and Kristian. They are by far her proudest accomplishments. Dr. Nakia has twenty-four years of education experience. She has served in leadership roles and educated diverse populations, including students with disabilities and English Speakers of Other Language students. Dr. Nakia is the author of Essential Tips for Special Education Leaders and Essential Tips for Section 504 Coordinators, now available on Amazon.
