Schools not eligible for the Government's donation scheme might miss out on crucial funding.
More than 1500 schools have signed up for the programme, which pays schools in deciles one to seven $150 per student if they don't ask parents for donations.
Waimea College Principal Scott Haines told Mike Hosking all schools should be allowed to opt in.
"There seems to be a growing gap in New Zealand between the expectations of parents and students being able to access rich and diverse extra curricular experiences - and those experience come at a cost."
