Siege by Michael Wolff
The American journalist returns with a sequel of sorts to his massive 2018 book, Fire and Fury, which detailled the inner workings of theTrump administration. His latest work returns to the White House, this time with a focus on the Mueller report. It remains fascinating.
Into the Raging Sea by Rachel Slade.
One of my favourite books of the year so far – tells the true story of a container ship called El Faro which in 2015 was on a routine trip from Florida to Puerto Rico and sailed straight into the path of a terrible hurricane. The Captain refused to listen to the crew and believed out of date weather forecasts and it sank, all 33 on board died. There were six microphones on the Bridge, kind of like a shipping blackbox which picked up the last 26 hours pf conversations and the author has done an amazing job or recreating what went on. It’s also an story of unbelievable corporate negligence which has never been held to account.
