Is the current system of music licensing effective in today's online age? Internet radio stations, podcasters and YouTube channels would love to use commercially licensed music but is it cost effective for small to medium scale broadcasters to do so? Should the old style model be abolished or reshaped?

I think artists need to get paid. I'm a Actor and Singer/Songwriter and would like to get something for it. I think every artist should decide for themselves, not some huge conglomerate.
