Thank you for listening. More importantly, thank you for your thoughtful and reflective response. It feels so good have some one confirm that this trend is real and not an illusion. And, additionally, acknowledge that it is a problem. Not only as Woman, but as a race. Least we not forget followers of Christ. I applaude your insight. I look forward to hearing more.

This is a nice piece. Their seems to be a large number of black men who are taking these roles for that almight dollar. Sadly, it is reducing the idea that our black men are these strong black men we have seen in times past. I refer to Shaft, Black Moses..etc. When back in the day we never saw this type of behavior in our black men nor was this something our community would tolerate. However, it is evident that acting in a female role/character by black men is happening due to the number of people that have no problem watching our men act in such a way. Tyler Perry does great work and even if he spoke and dressed in the character of Medea while dressed as a man people would come. It is now about compromise and acceptance by black men in order to make that money. It is no longer about what it reveals to the development of our young black men as it is more about acceptance. The roles of tough black men are not out there. When was the last time have we seen our black men acting in roles of the tough black man? Tyler Perry played a tough guy in Alex Cross, but people are more familiar with Medea. The Haves and Have Nots has a gay, closet Character named Jeffrey and the behavior of the mother is typical towards black men who find themselves facing the sexual preference. Now you mention this rapper who is acting in a way that some black people would refer to as suspect seems to only fall into the idea that acceptance of this is becoming normal so let us see how far this will go and how many record sells he will get. This idea leaves women, young women wondering where are the real black men in music and television and even on the big screen. I understand the idea of making money, but I also don't believe the black man should continue to reduce the importance of displaying strong black men in order to compromise for the dollar. Look at Martin who played a woman, on the show In living Color who had two black men speaking out on movies like Roger and Ebert. Sadly, money speaks louder and visually the strong black man is absent. Shaft was in 1971, Issac Hayes played Truck Turner in 1974, Samuel L. Jackson played shaft in 2000. You then saw Tyler Perry play Alex Cross in 2012. It is more popular to play female characters and play gay characters because it sells. Black men are falling into this role rather comfortably, yet taking away the idea of strong black men for women to see while others continue to take on the strong manly roles.
