Ann Hull Kuster provides a thorough introduction into how Peer Support benefits persons with eating disorders and anyone on a recovery path. Peer Support borrows from the success of Alcoholics Anonymous in matching persons with lived experience & good recovery with someone currently seeking recovery. Ann illustrates how peer support strengthens the therapeutic team, offers hope, and provides flexibility and accountability for the Mentee. Ann educates on the protocols, boundaries & expectations of this new modality that is slowly becoming acknowledged in the ED community. Ann highlights how honesty, openness and willingness are key components in the success of this valuable partnership. "Eating Disorders are very isolating disorders, you get a peer supporter, and it helps you to become connected to the world and what a wonderful thing that is for someone."
